On April 26, 2009, two of the Eudists Seminarians received the Order of Acolyte at the 1:00 PM Mass at St. Patrick Parish in Carlsbad, California. The Order of Acolyte is the step on the way to priesthood before diaconate. Rev. John Howard, CJM assistant provincial of the North American Province of the Eudist Fathers introduced the two candidates who were going to be instituted Acolytes, to their new duties in the Church. Father Ricardo Chinchilla CJM, presided the mass and Fr. Gerard Lecomte, CJM and Bill Rowland CJM, concelebrated the Eucharist. Benjamin
was born in Tijuana. Mexico and has known the Eudists for a long time,
he is now in his fourth year of theology in Camarillo.
During Holy Week, while on Spring Break, they both served at St. Pat’s. Benjamin spent the mornings visiting the children in the classroom at the parish school especially talking about Church Vocations. He served at all of our Holy Week services. Juan Gabriel was born in Honduras 25 years ago and is in third Theology studying at the major seminary in Tijuana, Mexico. He
lives at the
Eudist house of formation in La Mesa, CA. Juan Gabriel has been part of the RICA team at St Patrick Parish in Carlsbad, with the weekly sessions taking place every Sunday. Following the retreat, the high point was for the elect to receive the Sacraments of Initiation on Holy Saturday. He also helped in all the celebrations during holy week with the Spanish speaking community. Congratulations Juan and Benjamin and continued prayers as you journey to the priesthood with the Congregation of Jesus and Mary, the Eudist Fathers. |
